4 Frame Nucleus Colonies include:
- New, mated queen
- Two frames of brood
- One frame of honey
- One frame of drawn comb
2025 scheduled pickups will begin early May. Please keep in mind, weather can effect pick-up date. A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your Nuc. Please pay deposit by calling the shop, or pay in full directly from this page. Balance due 10-days before pick up. Live bees are not taxed. Pricing subject to change due to overwintering success.
** Pick up dates will be determined 2 weeks in advance. Sorry, we cannot ship live bees.
***Some things to keep in mind when purchasing Nucleus Colonies:
- Bring your protective clothing or make prior arrangements to purchase from our store.
- It's best to pick up bees when the foragers are in colony. This is why we schedule you a time to be at the shop when we call to book you in. Most times it is 9:30am when we open, but if the day is forecasted to be hot we may make earlier time slots. We will contact you to schedule and confirm your pickup day, usually on a Saturday or Wednesday.
- We close the bees in the night before for transport. Any Nucs not picked up by the final scheduled time slot will have entrances opened to allow bees to fly, so as to prevent over heating of colony.
- The best way to transport is the back of a pickup. Bees can be restricted for car transport (at your own risk).
- Some form of tie down straps are recommended for transporting.
- For car transport, we have mesh bags available in store ($10) to ensure no bees escape during transport.
- We're not responsible for bees that get over heated once they leave our care.
- All bees sold are in need of larger living quarters right away. Nucs will need to be installed into waiting 8 or 10 frame equipment. The bees we sell are strong and need the extra room ASAP.
- It's recommended to feed Nucs, especially if they are being installed on un-drawn foundation.
- All Nucs are government inspected. If you are taking your Nucs outside of NS, it is purchasers responsibility to obtain importation permits with your respective provinces.
- Any issues or concerns must be reported to Country Fields staff within 48 hours of pick up.
